The health benefits of matcha are well known...that's why I love to have a low carb matcha latte every morning! You will be surprised at just how tasty it is!
Have you heard of matcha? I hadn't until a couple of months ago when I was doing some research on how to make my own green tea ice cream like they have at Japanese restaurants. Have you ever tried that ice cream? One word...divine. I plan on making a low carb version soon, but I wanted to post about this low carb matcha latte first!
So back to my original question. Matcha is simply green tea leaves that have been ground into a fine powder. So, instead of getting a few benefits from green tea by just steeping it in hot water, you get the maximum benefits of the whole tea leaf. Here is a good list of the benefits of matcha.
Green tea is a very different taste that I happen to like. Some people don't though, like my family! They turn their nose to the green tea ice cream! How could they??? It's so darn delicious!
I made this low carb matcha latte easily with a little almond milk. I like to use Orgain almond milk because it has 10 grams of protein per serving! You could definitely use any almond milk you like though, as long as its low in carbs!
