Equipment

  • Blender, frother, or immersion blender

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces freshly brewed hot coffee
  • 1 tablespoon butter salted or unsalted
  • 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon MCT oil optional
  • ΒΌ teaspoon liquid stevia or your preferred keto sweetener, optional
  • Tiny pinch of salt optional, only if using unsalted butter

Instructions

  • Add the hot coffee, butter, optional MCT oil, and sweetener to a heat-safe blender.
  • Vent the blender lid so steam can escape. Start blending on low, then increase the speed and blend for 20 to 30 seconds, or until creamy and frothy.
  • Carefully remove the lid and pour the coffee into a mug. Serve right away.

Notes

  • If you are new to MCT oil, start with 1 teaspoon instead of a full tablespoon. You can always add more next time if you like it.
  • The nutrition does not include MCT oil since it is optional. If you add 1 tablespoon of MCT oil, it will add about 130 calories and 14 grams of fat.
  • Use a blender that is safe for hot liquids. Vent the lid so steam can escape, and start blending on low before increasing the speed.
  • Do not blend hot coffee in a sealed personal blender cup unless your blender specifically says it is safe for hot liquids.
  • A milk frother or immersion blender can also be used. A regular blender gives the creamiest texture, but a frother is the easiest option for everyday mornings.
  • Keto coffee is best served right away while it is hot, creamy, and frothy.
