Green beans are such an amazing vegetable when they are treated properly. Don't be afraid to add flavor in the form of cheese and garlic to make them extraordinary! This delicious vegetable side dish pairs perfectly with a simple baked chicken to make a meal any picky eater will love.

    Ingredients needed

This section explains how to choose the best ingredients for this Roasted parmesan green beans recipe, what each one does in the recipe, and substitution options. For a printable recipe, see the recipe card below.

1 Pound fresh green beans, trimmed - I like to buy the pre-washed and trimmed French green beans in the produce section of the grocery store. They are thinner and get nice and crispy in the oven.

2 Tablespoons avocado oil - you can also use olive oil

    ½ teaspoon kosher salt

    ¼ teaspoon black pepper

2 Cloves garlic, minced - if you are short on fresh garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder will work.

    ½ Cup shredded parmesan cheese

¼ Cup Shredded Mozzarella cheese - you could also use crumbled feta!

How to make parmesan green beans

This section explains how to make this parmesan green bean recipe, step by step. For a full printable recipe, see the recipe card below.

Preheat the oven to 425F. Using a large baking sheet, pile the green beans in center of the sheet. Season with the avocado oil and salt, toss to coat. Spread the green beans into an even layer on the sheet pan.

Place green beens in already preheated oven and roast for about 12 minutes. Remove from the oven.

In a small bowl, mix together the parmesan, mozzarella, and garlic. Use a spoon to sprinkle the mixture on top of the green beans.

Heat broiler on high heat and place green beans in oven, making sure to watch closely. Broil until cheese is melted and becoming golden brown. This should take about 2 to 3 minutes, depending on your oven. Serve.

    Pro tip:

    • Canned green beans will work with this parmesan green bean recipe, but they contain a lot of water so they will not get crispy in the oven.
