Did you forget to thaw your steaks for dinner? Not a problem! This recipe for frozen steak in the air fryer makes perfect steak every time!
This is going to be your go-to steak recipe! Especially if you are like me and you buy steak on sale for the freezer. Also, if you are a member of a meat service where you get frozen meat shipped to you. We almost always have steak in the freezer and in fact, it has been proven that freezing steak makes for a more tender steak!
The most important thing to cooking steak in the air fryer is getting the internal temperature right. I prefer a medium steak, but everyone is different and the cook times will differ depending on your preference.

Garlic salt to taste or seasoning of choice - feel free to use just garlic powder and salt. I like the ease of garlic salt.

For easy cleanup: line your air fryer basket or tray with foil.
Pre-heat the air fryer so you get a nice crust on your steak.
Coat both sides of the frozen steak with avocado oil cooking spray. Season the steaks on both sides with the seasonings.
Add your steak to your air fryer and set temperature to 450F on the air fry setting. Air fry frozen steaks for 10 minutes, making sure to flip half way through. Use an instant-read thermometer inserted halfway through the center to cook to your desired temperature.
If your air fryer will not go up to 450F, set it to the higher setting. It may need to cook a little longer or less depending on how thick your steak is as well. I air fried 1 inch frozen steaks for 10 minutes and I was left with medium according to my internal meat thermometer.
Store any leftover steak in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Better yet, use it to make my Leftover Steak Soup!
Pro tip:
- Use an internal meat probe thermometer to make sure your steak is cooked to your liking. Pull the steaks when the inside temperature is 10 degrees under temp and then let them rest for 10 minutes.
