Keto Tomato Soup - Only 5 ingredients, that you probably already have handy in your kitchen, is all you will need for this tasty low carb tomato soup recipe! Super creamy and super easy, makes this perfect soup recipe a go-to for days you need some comfort. And better yet...it is ready in only 15 minutes!

I'm going to be completely honest, I never had tomato soup (that I can think of!) until I was an adult. Like 38 years old adult! Boy was I missing out!
Canned tomato soup is filled with ingredients that are not keto friendly such as sugar and corn starch. Most are around 20 carbs per serving.
Now this keto tomato soup is one of my favorite soups and I could eat it multiple times a week. Thanks to this easy recipe, having tomato soup on the keto diet is possible and it's only 6 net carbs!
Keto tomato soup in 15 minutes!
So how do we make this creamy keto tomato soup in only 15 minutes? Well, we have to start with a secret shortcut ingredient. That would be a jar of sugar free marinara sauce!
Stay with me here because sugar free marinara sauce isn't just for dipping keto mozzarella sticks. As a matter of fact, the sauce that I use has the ingredients tomatoes, olive oil, onions, salt, garlic, basil, black pepper, and dried oregano. All of the flavors of a good keto tomato soup!
You could also make your own sauce with my recipe for keto marinara sauce.
I love this method because there is no need for a blender or immersion blender, we get a bowl packed full of vegetables with no added effort. You don't even have to turn then oven on!
Another reason I love to use a jar sugar free marinara for this low carb tomato soup is because tomatoes are in season in the Summer, I want this soup in the Winter when it's cold outside!
Creamy tomato soup
I added a few additions to give the soup even more flavor and to make it creamy. This includes heavy cream, sweetener, chicken broth, and tomato paste.
We add the sugar free sweetener to cut through the acidity in the sugar free marinara.
Even though this creamy tomato soup only uses 5 ingredients and 15 minutes, it is still thick, comforting, and filled with flavor like it has been cooking on the stovetop all day.
Croutons to top the soup
If you noticed, I have some super crispy croutons on top of my soup. For those I use my recipe for 90 second keto bread, cut it into cubes, and brown them under the broiler. They make perfect gluten free croutons!
Tips for the best keto tomato soup
- Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 week
- Make keto grilled cheese sandwiches to serve along side the soup!
- Use coconut cream or full fat coconut milk in place of the heavy cream for a dairy-free option.
- Top with fresh basil for some added freshness.

Keto Tomato Soup Recipe - Only 15 Minutes!
Ingredients
- 24 oz Jar Marinara (click here to see my favorite brand)
- 1 Cup chicken Broth
- ½ Cup Heavy cream
- 2 Tablespoons Tomato paste
- 2 Tablespoons Granular Sweetener (Click here to see my favorite on Amazon)
- Kosher salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Combine all of your ingredients in a medium size sauce pan.
- Cook until all the ingredients have been cooked together throughly and bubbling. Should take about ten minutes. If you would like a completely smooth keto tomato soup, you can carefully use an immersion blender to blend the soup.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve.
Jennifer's tips
- Please be aware that using a different brand of marinara would change the carb count. Â I use Rao's because it has no added sugar like most marinaras.
- I use a sugar free sweetener to cut through the acidity in the marinara. Â This is essential for really good tomato soup!
- Croutons: For those I use my recipe for 90 second keto bread, cut it into cubes, and brown them under the broiler. Â They make perfect gluten free croutons!

We love this soup in our Keto house. For an easy vegetable soup I use this as the base (I leave out tomato paste) and add green beans, cauli rice and broccoli! So good 😊
Mike McConnell says
Probably not keto but Mom used to make tomato soup and toasted cheese sandwich. She would put butter in a frying pan and cook the bread on each side, add cheese and mustard and warm the sandwich until the cheese melted.
I wish you could have a jar of our home canned tomatoes that are dead ripe when we can them. I doubt you would need a sweetener if you used them.

Great Soup - I love tomato soup and was sad to give it up. Tastes great without the sweetener too! Thanks
Gail says
Love this recipe! Delicious!! I had a jar of Rao’s Marinara (usually pricey but more reasonable at Sam’s in a two pack) in the cabinet and was looking for something different to do with it. It’s actually not really one of my favorites but I buy it because of the lower sugar. I know just what I’ll use it for from now on! Tomato soup, specifically this tomato soup! So much better than anything you’ll find in a can.
Danielle says
My son can’t stand tomato soup but loves this recipe! I made it a week ago and he’s requesting it again for tonight!
Vince C says
We have been on a tomato soup kick lately, but we felt guilty about the high carbs. We tried this recipe (followed the recipe exactly) tonight and it was fantastic-- better than a lot of non-Keto tomato soups and really easy to make. We'll be eating this one a lot. Thanks for sharing!
Jeanne Wise says
This soup was incredible. EASY and the taste was spot on. I didn't use the full amount of sugar - used maybe half - but followed the rest exactly. Thank you for this recipe as I love Creamy Tomato Soup and the carbs in store bought soup are prohibitive!
Ellyn Buckley says
Can the croutons be "toasted" in a skillet with butter?
jenniferbanz says
That should work!
Vicki OBrien says
I've been looking for a low carb but easy tomato soup recipe and though I was skeptical of using marinara, I was super impressed with the outcome! Raos isn't cheap but the flavor is amazing and well worth it. My store was out of heavy cream so I used half and half and it turned out just fine. Bookmarking this one for later!

Hi, I LOVE tomato soup and I must say, even tho I forgot the tomato paste..it was still maybe the best tomato soup I have ever had! I put some extra sharp shredded cheese on top and crushed up some parm crisps (everything flavored) and ate a bowl of it in under 5 minutes (really more like 3) - Even if I wasn’t doing keto, I would still make it this way from now on!! Thank you so much, can’t wait to try more of your recipes!!

LOVE this recipe! So comforting!!

Tried the recipe today.
substituted:
3/4 cup low carb milk for the 1/2 & 1/2
Added:
1 tbl dried chopped onions
1 tbl dried dill
Used the stick blender to purée.
Very happy with the results. Thanks for sharing this. I’m a type 2 diabetic and really miss Campbell’s tomato soup. This is better.

Just found this recipe last month and I'm making it tonight for the second time....it is so good!!! I'll make grilled cheese on zero carb bread to go with... and dunk. (no croutons) Total comfort food, and oh so easy!!!

Have made this soup several times and change it up a little each time with a different spice. My favorite change so far is I used vegetable broth. I am not a vegetarian but like this better in this soup. So that is a permanent change for me and I change up the added spices each time. GREAT SOUP

Doesn't get any better than this right here!

I made this for my husband and me who were on a keto diet but recently found out we needed to add back in a bit if carbs and this soup made a beautiful simple dinner for us. With 1 cup of soup and a low carb sandwich it was sooooo good. I love your recipes 🥰

mmmmm good! Used immersion blender and topped with shredded mozzarella. Easy and quick.

This is hands down the best tomato soup (Keto or not). I love Campbell’s tomato bisque and I can truly say this is better. Make the croutons very crispy and brown. Best soup I’ve had in months.
Kara Rydman says
This was easy and AWESOME. Only deviation I made was adding red pepper flakes. Definitely a keeper.
Lori says
All I had on hand was a low carb marinara from Thrive Market but it works. This is perfect. I’m also making grilled cheese with low carb bread for my dinner tonight since my husband is out of town and hates tomato soup.
Robin D says
Was wonderful and creamy! I was worried with starting with marinara but it added all the good spices without having to go through the hassle. I did end up putting the whole thing in the blender after about 30 minutes of simmering. It made it so smooth and you're not missing anything with this soup!
Terri says
Perfect soup for a cold, snowy day here in Idaho. On top of the cold outside, I am not feeling well, and was wishing for something warm and comforting but it HAD TO BE Keto friendly. BINGO!
Can't wait to try this in a few minutes after it is warmed through.
Deb says
Never, ever thought I’d like anything but Campbell’s tomato soup….but, since I’ve been Keto for the past 3 years….no more Campbell’s…..and then, viola! I saw this recipe! It’s amazingly delicious! Never had such wonderful, chemical & preservative free tomato soup! I make a triple batch & freeze in zip lock bags…..so simple & yet so fantastic! Thank you for putting tomato soup back on the menu! This with a grilled cheese (made with homemade Keto bread) is the best! I’m a big fan!
Diana Meinweiser says
Ok, I'm a believer! I have never liked any tomato soup other than Campbell's. I made it for lunch today and it was amazing! I love Rao sauce but never thought about soup. Now I can have grilled cheese and tomato soup. Game changer! Thank you so much!

This was amazing! Thank you so much for this! I made it exactly as the recipe but used prego farmers market marinara (only 4 net carbs!) My whole family loved it!
EA says
Thanks for the Prego tip, Brandi. Lots cheaper. Keto based food tends to be so expensive so very nice savings with Prego.

This was absolutely delicious and so easy. I used the garlic tomato Rao's and will definitely use that flavor version again. Since I only had half and half, I added a little cream cheese for some extra creaminess. Wow. It was a hit.

I am an old New Englander and Creamy Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are the absolute best on a cold winters day. I never leave reviews and I usually need to adjust recipes I find on the internet. At this stage of my life, I like simple things and this recipe is effortless to make. This recipe is abolutely perfect! Jennifer was right. To my surprise I had everything in the pantry to make this wonderful soup at the spur of the moment. So glad I did. Now I can enjoy an old favorite with my keto grilled cheese.
Thank you.

Tre says
Definitely glad I tried this today! It will be my go to tomato soup from now on. So easy to make and much better tasting that canned. Plus it’s keto!!
Andrea says
This was really good, thanks! I swapped the quantities of heavy whipping cream and broth. I used 1c HWC and 1/2c beef bone broth (instead of chicken broth) because I like a creamier soup & wanted to use up my bone broth. It changed the macros to 28 fat/9 net carb per serving, so not that different. I also omitted the sweetener because the soup was just so good without. This was really tasty!
Rebecca says
Can I substitute sugar free spaghetti sauce for the marinara?
