Creamy Keto Tomato Soup - Only 15 Minutes!

Keto Tomato Soup - Only 5 ingredients, that you probably already have handy in your kitchen, is all you will need for this tasty low carb tomato soup recipe! Super creamy and super easy, makes this perfect soup recipe a go-to for days you need some comfort.  And better yet...it is ready in only 15 minutes!

low carb creamy tomato soup with croutons in a bowl

I'm going to be completely honest, I never had tomato soup (that I can think of!) until I was an adult.  Like 38 years old adult!  Boy was I missing out!

Canned tomato soup is filled with ingredients that are not keto friendly such as sugar and corn starch.  Most are around 20 carbs per serving.

Now tomato soup is one of my favorite soups and I could eat it multiple times a week.  Thanks to this easy recipe, having tomato soup on the keto diet is possible.

Keto tomato soup in 15 minutes!

So how do we make this creamy low carb tomato soup in only 15 minutes?  Well, we have to start with a secret shortcut ingredient.  That would be a jar of sugar free marinara sauce!

Stay with me here because sugar free marinara sauce isn't just for dipping keto mozzarella sticks.  As a matter of fact, the sauce that I use has the ingredients tomatoes, olive oil, onions, salt, garlic, basil, black pepper, and dried oregano.  All of the flavors of a good tomato soup!

You could also make your own sauce with my recipe for keto marinara sauce.

Another reason I love to use a jar sugar free marinara for this low carb tomato soup is because tomatoes are in season in the Summer, I want this soup in the Winter when it's cold outside!

Creamy tomato soup

I added a few additions to give the soup even more flavor and to make it creamy.  This includes heavy cream, sweetener, chicken broth, and tomato paste.

We add the sugar free sweetener to cut through the acidity in the sugar free marinara.

Even though this creamy tomato soup only uses 5 ingredients and 15 minutes, it is still thick, comforting, and filled with flavor like it has been cooking on the stovetop all day.

Croutons to top the soup

If you noticed, I have some super crispy croutons on top of my soup.  For those I use my recipe for 90 second keto bread, cut it into cubes, and brown them under the broiler.  They make perfect gluten free croutons!

Check out these other comforting soup recipes

I am a huge soup fan and I can eat it any season and any time of day.  Try my Keto Bacon Cheeseburger soup if you are looking for something a little more heartier.

My Keto Cream of Mushroom Soup is perfect as a hug in a bowl or to replace cream of mushroom soup in a recipe.

Another hearty soup that is a family favorite is my Keto Chicken Pot Pie soup.  I use my Low Carb cheddar biscuits to top the soup.  Those biscuits would be delicious with this tomato soup, too!

Ingredients

  • 24 oz Jar Marinara (click here to see my favorite brand)
  • 1 Cup chicken Broth
  • ½ Cup Heavy cream
  • 2 Tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 2 Tablespoons Granular Sweetener (Click here to see my favorite on Amazon)
  • Kosher salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Combine all of your ingredients in a medium size sauce pan.
  • Cook until all the ingredients have been cooked together throughly and bubbling. Should take about ten minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve.

Jennifer's tips

  • Please be aware that using a different brand of marinara would change the carb count.  I use Rao's because it has no added sugar like most marinaras.
  • I use a sugar free sweetener to cut through the acidity in the marinara.  This is essential for really good tomato soup!
  • Croutons: For those I use my recipe for 90 second keto bread, cut it into cubes, and brown them under the broiler.  They make perfect gluten free croutons!

Love this recipe! Delicious!! I had a jar of Rao’s Marinara (usually pricey but more reasonable at Sam’s in a two pack) in the cabinet and was looking for something different to do with it. It’s actually not really one of my favorites but I buy it because of the lower sugar. I know just what I’ll use it for from now on! Tomato soup, specifically this tomato soup! So much better than anything you’ll find in a can.

We have been on a tomato soup kick lately, but we felt guilty about the high carbs. We tried this recipe (followed the recipe exactly) tonight and it was fantastic-- better than a lot of non-Keto tomato soups and really easy to make. We'll be eating this one a lot. Thanks for sharing!

This soup was incredible. EASY and the taste was spot on. I didn't use the full amount of sugar - used maybe half - but followed the rest exactly. Thank you for this recipe as I love Creamy Tomato Soup and the carbs in store bought soup are prohibitive!

I've been looking for a low carb but easy tomato soup recipe and though I was skeptical of using marinara, I was super impressed with the outcome! Raos isn't cheap but the flavor is amazing and well worth it. My store was out of heavy cream so I used half and half and it turned out just fine. Bookmarking this one for later!

Hi, I LOVE tomato soup and I must say, even tho I forgot the tomato paste..it was still maybe the best tomato soup I have ever had! I put some extra sharp shredded cheese on top and crushed up some parm crisps (everything flavored) and ate a bowl of it in under 5 minutes (really more like 3) - Even if I wasn’t doing keto, I would still make it this way from now on!! Thank you so much, can’t wait to try more of your recipes!!

    Tried the recipe today.
    substituted:
3/4 cup low carb milk for the 1/2 & 1/2
    Added:
    1 tbl dried chopped onions
    1 tbl dried dill
Used the stick blender to purée.
Very happy with the results. Thanks for sharing this. I’m a type 2 diabetic and really miss Campbell’s tomato soup. This is better.

Have made this soup several times and change it up a little each time with a different spice. My favorite change so far is I used vegetable broth. I am not a vegetarian but like this better in this soup. So that is a permanent change for me and I change up the added spices each time. GREAT SOUP

Was wonderful and creamy! I was worried with starting with marinara but it added all the good spices without having to go through the hassle. I did end up putting the whole thing in the blender after about 30 minutes of simmering. It made it so smooth and you're not missing anything with this soup!

Perfect soup for a cold, snowy day here in Idaho. On top of the cold outside, I am not feeling well, and was wishing for something warm and comforting but it HAD TO BE Keto friendly. BINGO!

Can't wait to try this in a few minutes after it is warmed through.

Never, ever thought I’d like anything but Campbell’s tomato soup….but, since I’ve been Keto for the past 3 years….no more Campbell’s…..and then, viola! I saw this recipe! It’s amazingly delicious! Never had such wonderful, chemical & preservative free tomato soup! I make a triple batch & freeze in zip lock bags…..so simple & yet so fantastic! Thank you for putting tomato soup back on the menu! This with a grilled cheese (made with homemade Keto bread) is the best! I’m a big fan!

This recipe is abolutely perfect! Jennifer was right. To my surprise I had everything in the pantry to make this wonderful soup at the spur of the moment. So glad I did. This was really good, thanks! I swapped the quantities of heavy whipping cream and broth. I used 1c HWC and 1/2c beef bone broth (instead of chicken broth) because I like a creamier soup & wanted to use up my bone broth. It changed the macros to 28 fat/9 net carb per serving, so not that different. I also omitted the sweetener because the soup was just so good without. This was really tasty!
