I tried the vanilla recipe, it came out very rubbery and the egg taste almost overpowered the sweetness. Felt like I was eating a vanilla scrambled egg.

this is by far the best recipe for keto cake I have ever used. I ended up halving the amount of sweetener and cooking it for a bit longer. ( in Germany maybe the power is different in the machine) The cake is moist, tasty and so fast to make. Straight out of the microwave I top it with a couple of pieces of 80% dark chocolate.

Just made it, yummy! I made the one with cocoa powder, added some peanut butter on top while it was hot and sprinkled onsome keto granola. Accidentally added one tbl spoon coconut flour AND a tbl spoon almond four, came out like a chocolate cake base.

Delicious, today your Chocolate cake was my Sunday morning breakfast, I used almond flour, and stevia powder, I always use 1/3 of the baking powder because the one I have here in Belgium tastes too strong. I ate it while it was still warm, a very very happy start of the day, thank you so much, Jennifer

Best mug cake recipe I’ve found – by far. Both times I’ve made it, I’ve used coconut flour, Keto cocoa powder, almond butter, and Truvia. I love that it gives me my dessert fix, is filling, and keeps me in ketosis.

When I first made it, I put it in a ramekin and it overflowed BIG TIME (still tasted good). Maybe ramekins come in different sizes but I don’t see how this recipe can fit into one (even if it were just the vanilla one with coconut flour). Definitely use a mug.

I found that 45 seconds works well (with my microwave, at least). However, I feel like some parts were overcooked and some parts were undercooked, so I plan to play with the power and cook time settings to figure out what works best.

I’m not sure why people are saying it tastes like scrambled eggs. Honestly, I think it’s something they are doing or their microwave. I have made this several times and have always been successful. You may want to let the melted butter cool just a bit before adding the egg, that may be the issue? I’ve tried the chocolate and vanilla and I have experienced with different variations too. Thanks for a simple, easy and fast dessert idea for one! It definitely satisfies my sweet tooth 🙂

I made the vanilla version exactly as the recipe called for and it was not good. It was very eggy tasting and to me and my husband, it was like eating a sweetened, scrambled egg cake. I even tried the recipe twice and neither one of us could get past the eggy taste. I don’t know if that’s what it’s supposed to taste like, but the egg was overwhelming. I did not use extra large eggs either.

+So far, I’ve made a plain vanilla, chocolate with Lily’s semi-sweet baking chips and RediWhip topping, and another vanilla with 3/4 tsp of cinnamon stirred in and topped with chopped pecans… and RediWhip, of course.

I made the chocolate version with coconut flour and Swerve confectioner’s sugar replacement. Would you mind breaking down how you got 7 grams total carbs for yours, because when I put all the ingredients in my carb counter (I use Carb Manager), it added up to 34.5 gms total carbs. That does include the chocolate chips (Lily’s) for 8 gms carbs, but still much higher than what your recipe states. Thanks!

Maybe a silly question, but still fairly new to keto, for the chocolate cake, is that 7 g of carbs already net carbs? Or is it total carbs?

tasted good but all of my chocolate chips sunk to the bottom of the mug, not exactly sure what could have caused this. Either way a great recipe!!

I made this and something didn’t come out right. The taste was terrible. I think I didn’t use enough stevia. It had an aftertaste. Any suggestions on what I possibly got wrong? I plan to try it again. I tried the vanilla one. I’ve only been on keto a week so I’m new to this.

Yes, stevia can have a bitter aftertaste. You may want to try erythritol ❤️

Tried the chocolate version this afternoon. I used honey as a sweetener. Cooked for only 50 seconds in a 900w microwave and it turned out perfect. Lovely texture using the coconut flour. This will be my go to Sponge recipe from now on. Many thanks.

Im excited to try this. I just want to make sure Im understanding right. It’s 1 Tablespoon of coconut flour OR (not plus) 3 Tablespoon of almond flour. Is this correct?

The cakes are so very good!!! Thank you for the recipe’s!! I wondering on the Analysis of the nutritional information do we subtract the fiber from the carbs to get the net amount of carbs or have you already done that?

      Thank you so much !!!

Yes, Linda. You subtract the fiber or sugar alcohols from carbs to get the net carbs.

Finally, a keto dessert that isn’t bitter and doesn’t taste like pure eggs! Best recipe I have tried so far. All the other ones I had tried were extremely eggy and had no flavor. Thank you.

I’ve missed cake, and this recipe really hit the mark. Thank you so much for that, I’ve been looking for an easy cake recipe and when I stumbled upon yours I thought to try it out. It did not disappoint.

Nice recipes again – thank you. I just don’t like to use your “favorite brands from Amazon” while some of them are too expensive and/or not available in my country.

OhMyGosh! I just made the vanilla option and baked it in the oven. It is so delicious. Mine did take 15-16 minutes but I started watching it closely at 10 minutes. This may have also been because I baked it in a round glass container and not a mug. I also used coconut flour as I was out of almond flour. This is going in my recipe book for sure.
