I love having this keto shopping list on my phone when I go to the grocery store or when I'm planning meals. When I first started researching low carb diets like Paleo, I was seriously turned on my head because I was now learning fat is good, meat is good, and vegetable oils and whole wheat are bad...so I was really lost when it came to the grocery store!

My list is definitely not comprehensive because that would be a very long and overwhelming list! I tried to put things on the list that are easy to find in most grocery stores. I am not a grassfed beef and organic this and that kind of girl, but if you are, then go for it! I do buy some things organic, like fruit that my kids eat, but that's about it.

You may think that you need to go out and buy all of the things on this keto shopping list immediately but please don't! You can slowly build your pantry with keto foods so it isn't a big hit to the budget. I would recommend picking a few easy recipes, like my Baked Chicken Thighs and my easy Low Carb Bread so you don't have a lot of ingredients to buy and use some ingredients that you already have on hand. Eventually you will have a stocked pantry!

If you are missing noodles like crazy, have a look at my post on 5 Low Carb Substitutes for Pasta.  See, low carb can be easy!

Hi Jenn, I’m new at this and I sure could use this site and your help. Can we drink unsweetened almond milk on this diet. Or powered milk. I love cereal. Is there any kind of cereal that would be appropriate. I love this sight and the best part is, you really make it sound easy and fun. Thanks for a response when you can! Email is

Hi Lisa! Yes, you can drink unsweetened almond milk! As far as cereal goes, that is a tough one. You could make your own...kind of like a granola but you would really need to watch how much you eat because it has a lot of calories. https://jenniferbanz.com/low-carb-granola

Navigating the keto diet is challenging at the least. Thank you for bringing it back to a more understandable format.

I was surprised to see your list doesn't include avocados. I am researching the Keto diet and everything I read includes avocados as a staple. Thank you for the concise list.
