These air fryer hot dogs are more of a technique than a recipe but it results in the most amazing hot dogs! Just when your thought cooking hot dogs couldn't get any easier... using your Air Fryer gives you crispy edges and the super juicy frank we all love, every-time!

    air fryer hot dogs

The first time I made these little gems, my family was hooked.  Now we make them at least 3 times a week!  Yeah, that's a lot of hot dogs.

Let's not demonize the humble hot dog.  There are some that fall into the grass-fed, organic, and nitrate free category, and there are the ones we grew up with eating.  You are free to choose whichever you like best.

    The technique

This is too simple but yields there most amazing hot dogs, promise.  Place your hot dogs on a cutting board and use a sharp paring knife to cut a zig-zag pattern along the length of the hot dog.  Only cut ½ to ¾ of the way through.

    This is the result...

Now we place them inside out air fryer and cook them at 400F for 8-10 minutes.  Depending on the thickness of your hot dogs and how crispy you want them.  My son leans into the not so crispy camp.  I love them the crispier the better!

    Ingredients

    • 6 Hot Dogs (your favorite brand)

    Equipment

    • Air Fryer (Here's the air fryer I like best on Amazon)

    Method

    1. Place the hot dogs on a cutting board and cut each hot dog with a deep zig-zag pattern. Only cut ½ to ¾ into the hot dog, not all of the way through.
    2. Line the bottom of your air fryer basket with your cut hot dogs. Cook 10 minutes or until reached your desired crispiness.

    Notes

    • Nutrition for this will be determined by the hot dogs you purchase.  I have listed above the nutrition for Nathan's Jumbo Beef Franks

I have made these hot dogs 3 times and they are so much better than the regular way of cooking them! It takes extra time to prepare them but they are very much worth it‼️
