I made the chocolate version with coconut flour and Swerve confectioner's sugar replacement. Would you mind breaking down how you got 7 grams total carbs for yours, because when I put all the ingredients in my carb counter (I use Carb Manager), it added up to 34.5 gms total carbs. That does include the chocolate chips (Lily's) for 8 gms carbs, but still much higher than what your recipe states. Thanks!
jenniferbanz says
Carb manager must be including erythritol in the carb count
Naomi says
So so so so good! I have tried a few different mug cakes and this is my favorite one by far! I made the chocolate one. What I want a cake to taste like!
Heidi Uecker says
I made the chocolate version using coconut flour following the recipe exactly. It was moist and delicious. I will be making this a lit!
Mina says
Hi, I just made the vanilla one with almond flour and it was really yummy and moist. It's super hot here in France today but I still fancied some cake. It was really nice to be able to make one without making the house any hotter because of the oven. Thank you for sharing this great recipe!
Kelsey says
I just made the vanilla version but used brown sugar Swerve... it almost tastes like a pancake! This was amazing!
Kirsty G says
Maybe a silly question, but still fairly new to keto, for the chocolate cake, is that 7 g of carbs already net carbs? Or is it total carbs?
Thanks ?
jenniferbanz says
That's total carbs. Subtract the fiber to get net carbs

I made this tonight. I added a scoop of vanilla protein powder and a splash of half and half. It was really good but needed an extra 20 seconds in the microwave. I also added some frosting that was made out of whipped cream cheese and sweetener. Thanks for the great recipe!
Emmy says
Wow, I was so sceptical but this is great. I did vanilla but added a bit of cinnamon and it's perfect!! Thank you!!

The best chocolate cake-in-a-mug recipe I’ve had, yet! Not dry at all, and plenty chocolate flavor. Even my husband approved, and he is not a fan of anything not sugar sweetened. Thanks for the great recipe!
Leslie says
I have tried so many keto mug cakes trying to fill my immense want for a tasty cake. This is the only one that truly just tasted like cake. I poured a small amount of heavy whipping cream on top after melting some keto chocolate chips on my chocolate cake and it was amazing. Thank you. I will definitely be checking out more of your recipes.

Excellent very filling
Susan Harover says
I haven't made any of these yet, but can't wait to try! Looking at the nutritional info, can you tell me how the chocolate can have 12 g of protein in it? I know eggs have 6 g of protein, but where does the other 6 g come from?
jenniferbanz says
Almonds in the almond flour
Lydia says
Soo yummy, that’s what I need with my night cup of tea. Thanks for sharing ?
Maddie says
Wow, this is amazing. Just the thing for a late night craving. I made the chocolate coconut flour version without heavy cream, but you better believe I’m ordering that now for the next time I make this.
Victoria Murray says
Very good!!
Paula says
I’ve made the chocolate cake with almond once and then with coconut flour. Definitely preferred the coconut flour texture and it was so delicious!! Can you please let me know what the macros are when using coconut flour? Thank you!
G says
tasted good but all of my chocolate chips sunk to the bottom of the mug, not exactly sure what could have caused this. Either way a great recipe!!
Michele says
So easy , fabulous!
Cat says
I combined the peanut butter & cocoa (1/2 tbsp of each) & it was decadent and ohhh so yummy!! Thank you

I made this and something didn't come out right. The taste was terrible. I think I didn't use enough stevia. It had an aftertaste. Any suggestions on what I possibly got wrong? I plan to try it again. I tried the vanilla one. I've only been on keto a week so I'm new to this.
jenniferbanz says
Yes, stevia can have a bitter aftertaste. You may want to try erythritol ❤️
Jum says
I was impressed.... it cane out delicious. I made just the vanilla. It hit my sweet tooth.
Patti says

Tried the chocolate version this afternoon. I used honey as a sweetener. Cooked for only 50 seconds in a 900w microwave and it turned out perfect. Lovely texture using the coconut flour. This will be my go to Sponge recipe from now on. Many thanks.
Thyanne says
Just made this. Absolutely delicious. Needed this for my craving.
Pam says
Im excited to try this. I just want to make sure Im understanding right. It's 1 Tablespoon of coconut flour OR (not plus) 3 Tablespoon of almond flour. Is this correct?
jenniferbanz says
Correct!
Linda says
The cakes are so very good!!! Thank you for the recipe's!! I wondering on the Analysis of the nutritional information do we subtract the fiber from the carbs to get the net amount of carbs or have you already done that?
Thank you so much !!!
Linda
Daphyne says
Yes, Linda. You subtract the fiber or sugar alcohols from carbs to get the net carbs.

Finally, a keto dessert that isn’t bitter and doesn’t taste like pure eggs! Best recipe I have tried so far. All the other ones I had tried were extremely eggy and had no flavor. Thank you.

Sharon Ells-Jakiel says
Made this last night. This could become a problem. The absolute best cake in a mug!
Nicole says
OhMyGosh! I just made the vanilla option and baked it in the oven. It is so delicious. Mine did take 15-16 minutes but I started watching it closely at 10 minutes. This may have also been because I baked it in a round glass container and not a mug. I also used coconut flour as I was out of almond flour. This is going in my recipe book for sure.
bwenda says
PERIODT my mom loved it thanks
