Looking to bring a kick to your basic shrimp recipe?! Try this full of flavor Firecracker Shrimp! This perfectly cooked spicy shrimp recipe is smothered in a spicy and sweet sauce that will send your taste buds racing!

firecracker shrimp in a black bowl

If spicy food is your jam, this firecracker shrimp recipe is for you. The thing is, it's not so spicy that you are grimacing in pain. The spice is tolerable, especially since the sauce has such an amazing flavor. Paired with the shrimp, it is a match made in heaven.

What I love most about this spicy shrimp recipe is we do not need to fry the shrimp for amazing flavor. Frying isn't healthy and I like to keep my recipes healthy and high protein without sacrificing flavor. Serve it over rice or with veggies to make this firecracker shrimp a complete meal. It would also make a great appetizer.

    Ingredients needed

This section explains how to choose the best ingredients for this Firecracker Shrimp recipe, what each one does in the recipe, and substitution options. For a printable recipe, see the recipe card below.

¼ Cup chili crunch - If you can find a chili garlic crunch, even better. This is a common product now in most grocery stores. The most popular one you will find is at Trader Joe's.

3 Tablespoons honey (use honey substitute for keto)

    2 ½ Tablespoons lime juice

2 Tablespoons Soy sauce or coconut aminos

1 Tablespoon Sriracha - This is firecracker shrimp after all! Bring the spice!

1 Tablespoon minced ginger - I like to use a ginger paste for even more ease.

    2 cloves Garlic, minced

1 ½ Pounds Large shrimp, peeled and deveined - I always buy frozen shrimp that are already cleaned. Then I thaw them before use.

    How to make firecracker shrimp

This section explains how to make this spicy shrimp recipe, step by step. For a full printable recipe, see the recipe card below.

Step 1 - In a medium size mixing bowl, whisk together the lime juice, chili garlic sauce, sriracha, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic and ground ginger. Stir to combine ingredients. Set sauce aside.

Step 2 - Heat a large non-stick pan over medium high heat. Add the shrimp the the skillet and cook for a few minutes on each side. You don't want to cook them all of the way through.

Step 3 - Stir in the firecracker spicy shrimp sauce and toss to coat the shrimp. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce is thickened and shrimp is cooked through. Garnish with cilantro, scallions, or green onions.
