All you need is a skillet and a few simple ingredients to create this ultimate comfort dish! Super delicious crispy bacon paired with perfectly cooked cabbage all in the convenience of one skillet!
The absolute best way to cook cabbage is this fried cabbage with bacon. Â That or egg roll in a bowl would be my top picks for cabbage recipes. Â The cabbage fries in the bacon and gets so flavorful in this fried cabbage with bacon. Â I like to serve this with Air Fryer Chicken Thighs, Instant Pot Country Style Ribs, or Air Fryer Pork Tenderloin. Â I like to combine skillet recipes with air fryer recipes so I am not cooking 2 things on the stovetop at once.
How do you cut cabbage for frying?
I like to cut cabbage into 1 inch pieces for frying but you could also shred the cabbage and it would not take as long to cook. Â To cut the cabbage from the core, instead of cutting down the middle through the core, I cut to the sides of the core, on all four sides. Â Then, you are left with just the tough core! Â I then chop the remainder into 1 inch chunks. Â Easy Peasy!
How to cook cabbage
My favorite way to cook cabbage is with yummy crispy bacon.  I first chop 1 pound of bacon and cook that until crispy in a large skillet.  I then remove the crispy bacon from the pan with a slotted spoon.  Finally, I sauté the cabbage until soft in the bacon fat for ultimate flavor and serve with the crispy bacon.  It is amazing!
Recipe notes and tips:
- Shred the cabbage for a shorter cook time. Â You can do this in a food processor or with a sharp knife.
- Remove the tough outer leaves of the cabbage before chopping.
- For less calories, remove some of the bacon grease from the skillet before cooking the cabbage.
